Hate Mail 101

hate_mailWe all hate somebody. It’s in our blood. We can’t help but hate a few people, and in certain special circumstances, we hate someone so much that we are prepared to do anything to make their lives miserable. Irrespective of our religious beliefs, line of work, nationality or faith, we hate people.

We hate a few because of the way they talk. We hate a few because of the way they laugh. Sometimes, their reactions to a few situations makes our blood boil. Some people’s tastes in music makes us want to tear our hair out in frustration. We don’t like the way some people dress. We hate it when some people crowd around us, invading our personal space. We hate some people for the kind of emails they send. We hate some people because they say, “Reeeealy??” in a very very irritating manner for every little statement we make. Some people are very clingy and can’t help sending text messages every two minutes with an irritatingly sentimental quote. We hate some guys because they become gender-confused and start writing shit like *HUGS*, just to impress women.  We hate some people who lie. We hate a few for being mean and heartless. We hate people who make false promises. Sometimes, very rarely, we hate someone just because they exist.

What can we do when we bump into such people? I’d suggest the straight-forward means of screaming into their faces, “I fucking hate you!” but this may not go down well with most people. The other, subtle non-violent way of pissing them off is to write them a Hate Mail.

I’ve been receiving Hate Mails all my life, and I can say with authority that there is a changing trend in the way these mails are worded. A few years ago, a piece of paper torn out from a notebook with the words, “You suck!” constituted a Hate Mail. But nowadays, the same two words have a very erotic implication, and isn’t used much often.

Instead, people have resorted to a more flowery longhand version – the email. Some are brave enough to send the mail from their own email ID, but most people would take the trouble to create a new email ID called something like ihateyourballs@gmail.com or something more subtle like a.hole@gmail.com. and send out Hate Mails to the objects of their hatred.

I don’t really suggest you do this, because such incriminating emails have a very strong possibility of being mistaken for the work of a terrorist or worse, the HR Managers. So, I suggest you send Hate Mails from your own email ID, because as they say in Hindi, “Nafrat kiya toh darna kya?” (Why fear if you hate?)

Be your flowery best, use words like fornication and obfuscation and make them believe that you’re praising them. For example, “Your ability to obfuscate others is awe-inspiringly fornicative!” will actually make him/her feel proud. Only when the person refers to a dictionary will he/she get your drift.

The best Hate Mails are written as part of the final goodbye emails that you write while leaving an organization. People are expecting the usual sentimental shit and you give them that: “My time here in this great organization was an anachronism – a testament to my patience.”

So, let’s be prepared to send out those email that you’ve always saved in drafts and never had the guts to send. You can practice writing Hate Mails by sending them to me and i’ll revert with critiques. Make sure you put “Hate Mail” in the subject line! :D

  5. December 22, 2008 at 2:09 pm | #5

  9. December 22, 2008 at 3:52 pm | #9

    Yeah! sorry! Typing error! Is that your handwriting, Nikhil?

  10. December 22, 2008 at 3:52 pm | #10

    Hate should be reserved for special cases and people. For all the things u have listed, I would at most dislike not hate. Hate is when u r so angry at someone that u feel like stabbing that person 40 times with a knife :)

  11. December 22, 2008 at 4:05 pm | #11

    Isn’t ignoring the people you hate the best solution? When you write a hate mail, I guess the sender has to put in more effort than the receiver, why give him that much importance?

  12. December 22, 2008 at 4:19 pm | #12

    @Alice
    Hehehehe!! See, I keep my promises! :)

    @Sakhi
    LOL… I’m not that screwed in the head! :D

    @Barath
    No, but if it were, my spellings would be a lot better than yours!! :P

    @Reema
    No, thanks… I’d rather stick to non-violent means to justify my anger… :)

    @Pr3rna
    Well, sometimes it’s better to invest some time into it… Pays off! :)

  13. December 22, 2008 at 7:31 pm | #13

    I think the best way is to avoid the person u hate.. they eventually get the point

  15. December 22, 2008 at 9:17 pm | #15

    I experienced hate really strongly when I started blogging! Until then everyone used to love me! :D

  16. December 22, 2008 at 9:26 pm | #16

    :D

  18. December 22, 2008 at 11:44 pm | #18

    Hate is too strong a word for my dictionary. Peeved, Pissed Off, Fucked up, Irritated, Angry and a lot more emotions may / will flow, but I can’t Hate someone – no matter what they have done.. & Sending out Hate mails seems too juveline to me – If someone sent me a hate mail, I would think they don’t have the guts to come up and talk.. I could always delete your mail or filter it or send it to spam and pretend it never happened..

    What I do though, is write! I blog about it.. Or, I talk about it… I thrash it out! :-D

  19. December 23, 2008 at 12:11 am | #19

    @Reema : :O Gasp.
    No, no hate mails for me. But I understand anonymous hate mail. If I was not afraid of IP traces, I would perhaps write them to some politicians.

    Ummmm….hey Mirror cracked! I actually hate cracked mirrors ‘cos they seriously freak me out.:-)
    And since you seem like such an authority on the subject, a Q: what does one through if he particularly hates almost the whole human kind? Like all those people u mentioned and even more! Except for the few select people I actually like, i seem to intensely hate the remaining world! ummmm…if I think about it, I actually also hate myself the way I am these day…so…kindly gimme some gyaan…:-) :-)

    [btw, this is the first time I am commenting on ur blog. Must say, I find you funny and very strange at the same time!] Oh!v That was a compliment btw!:-)

  21. December 23, 2008 at 12:28 am | #21

    LOL, I do believe that by sending out an Hate mail to someone, you probably have given them more reasons and power to hurt you…!! There are some people who don’t even deserve the Hate emotion in you…they by far are such losers that IGNORING them is the best punishment that you cld ever give them and send out a stronger message that they are those dogs that after getting tired of barkin eventually also have to shut up!! :)

  22. December 23, 2008 at 2:25 am | #22

    A couple of days i received a mail from an id -yourscrewed@gmail.com and it said im doomed !! At first , I thought it was a spam, but it had references to my blog (which I thought was so innocent!). and had the subject line well wisher. Now which well wisher on earth would create an email id that way ???

    Psst…psst…how do you find the IP address of such mailers, any idea?

  25. December 23, 2008 at 9:17 am | #25

    @Aparna

    @Deeps
    Yeah, I guess that’s true! But you know what, if you invest some time and money in this, you will at least have the pleasure of pissing them off! It’s better to be pissed off than pissed on, isn’t it? :D

    @Vimal
    Hahaha!! Ok, trust me dude, that wasn’t me!! :D
    And no, I honestly don’t know how this IP thing works! :D

  32. December 23, 2008 at 3:05 pm | #32

    For me, life is not extremes.. Its not Love or Hate, u know? For one, I am scared of love, and two – hate is seriously a strong word… To me, life is full of grey shades.. & turns out, at first glimpse, people think I am a snob & a bitch, but they grow on to like me later… & if they don’t, well, I don’t hear from them for the rest of my life.. & So, I guess I deal with people the way they deal with me..

    Gosh! That was serious gyaan! I think I am having New Year blues or is it Christmas or the age-ing process? Something certainly is getting to me! :-)

    December 23, 2008 at 6:07 pm | #33

    Hey!! I also hate no one! I do dislike a few, get angry/pissed off/irritated…but hate – no!
    And as my dear namesake has written, I probably would just delete hate mail I receive and go on!
    May be our EQ is better developed ;) What say Aparna?

  34. December 23, 2008 at 9:51 pm | #34

    lol , and true , it does seem to be the most IN thing now. . .I have seen so many hate mails being passed around , publicized , laughed at , complimented . . .

    hey dude! Accepted! You are on! :-) just a piece of warning: am highly opinionated, have been accused of being argumentative and since am not in a great place right now, I’m also hugely bipolar(read weepy!) :-)

  36. December 24, 2008 at 3:05 pm | #36

    Gosh Nick! How do you come up with these ideas? How many haters do you have out there? :D Nice handwriting btw. Since the blossoming of technological era, I don’t think I can write as neatly any more. Except when writing out a check ;)
